In ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,’ available on Prime Video, the audience is transported back in time to a period when the Rings of Power had not yet been made and Sauron had not yet manifested himself in his full form. In the third episode, we are introduced to the realm of Numenor, which is taking place during the time when the hostility toward the elves is gaining momentum and throwing the kingdom into upheaval with Galadriel’s arrival. Because Tar-Palantir, King of Numenor, is unable to lead the realm, his daughter takes control of the government and assumes the role of Queen Regent. It is swiftly demonstrated that Miriel is a formidable opponent that Middle-Earth unquestionably requires on their side. She is also someone who should not be underestimated.

Galadriel eventually achieves her goal of convincing the queen to sail to Middle-earth and battle against Sauron’s growing threat in the fifth episode of the show. However, before Miriel can leave Numenor, her father gives her a warning and begs her not to depart. He says that she should stay. He warns her that she will find only darkness there. Does this imply that Miriel is putting herself in a position where she will be killed if she continues to engage in what will eventually become a full-scale war against Sauron? Let’s find out. One of the aspects of prequels is that the future of a large number of the characters has already been decided, which frequently makes the events of their story much more heartbreaking. A similar end awaits Miriel, but getting there will be a difficult and bloody road. However, this end is not far off in the distance. It won’t be the end of Miriel’s journey just yet, despite the fact that her father is correct in assuming that his daughter and all those who have followed her to Middle-earth will face a darkness beyond anything they have ever experienced before. At least not according to the records that have been kept. However, it is common practice for television adaptations to deviate somewhat from the original source material, and “Rings of Power” provides a lot of room to examine Miriel’s story from a perspective that is somewhat different from the one presented in the book.

Miriel is depicted in the books as being the legitimate heir to the throne of Numenor, following in her father Tar-footsteps. Palantir’s However, her position as queen is seized by Pharazon, her cousin. In the Amazon series, it has already been hinted that Pharazon would be able to usurp Miriel’s authority and take over as ruler of the Amazons. We are able to observe the power that he wields over the general people and how readily he can change their attitudes. Additionally, it appears that they believe in him more than they believe in their own queen. In point of fact, his own son is the one who suggests that he disobey the directives that Miriel has given him and avoid going to Middle-Earth. Pharazon has shown a more loyal side to the Queen for the time being; yet, his political brain is obviously capable of thinking beyond merely following in his cousin’s footsteps. What role does this have in determining Miriel’s future?

In contrast to what would have transpired in a reality similar to that of “Game of Thrones,” Pharazon does not end Miriel’s life after ascending to the throne of Numenor for himself. Instead, she lives to see another day. It is unfortunate for Miriel that she must continue to live long enough to witness the destruction of her island kingdom at the hands of the fury of Valar, which has been alluded to previously in the program. Miriel sees in her visions a massive wave sweeping across Numenor and obliterating all in its path. She then tells Galadriel about it, and Galadriel thinks that this calamity can be averted if Numenor marches to Middle-earth and halts the progression of evil there.

Both of them are unaware that by taking this action, Numenor would be destroyed. This is the event that will bring about the end of Numenor. In an earlier conversation with Elrond, Gil-galad had mentioned the possibility that Galadriel could end up fanning the flames of the exact evil that she was attempting to extinguish. This will turn out to be the case in a variety of different ways. When Sauron is eventually brought to Numenor, he will encourage Pharazon, who is now the king, to march on the forbidden realms of Valinor, which will result in the wrath of the Valar. This will cause Pharazon to lose his kingdom. Miriel will still be alive at the time when the waves first start to crash down on Numenor, and this will be the moment that marks the end of her life.
