Tony Ferguson Parents: Where Is His Father?
On February 12, 1984, the professional UFC and MMA fighter’s parents, including his mother Mary Padilla, gave birth to him in Oxnard, California. He lost his biological father not long after his birth.
Tony’s mother later wed Armand Ferguson, who gave him his last name, looked after his needs and wants, and loved him unconditionally. When the future famous sportsmen began attending the school and his stepfather assumed control of the neighborhood dive, the family relocated to Muskegon County in Michigan.

Early life
Ferguson was primarily raised in Muskegon, Michigan, although being born in Oxnard, California, on February 12, 1984. He has Mexican ancestry. Ferguson, his last name, is a Scottish American stepfather surname.
Ferguson participated in American football, baseball, and wrestling at Muskegon Catholic Central High School. He won the 152-lb class in wrestling in 2002 and was a three-time All-State pick in football for the 2000 Division 8 state winners.
Ferguson attended Central Michigan University after high school before transferring to Grand Valley State University. He also attended Muskegon Community College for a while. Despite not finishing his degree, he had a successful collegiate wrestling career and won the 165-lb class of the 2006 National Collegiate Wrestling Association championship.
Ferguson returned to California after graduating from college in order to be nearer to his extended family. He worked in marketing and sales during the day and as a bartender at night. Ferguson was working a bar shift one night when a customer saw his cauliflower ear and started talking to him about his wrestling history. The client, who worked as a trainer at a nearby MMA facility, asked him to help five aspiring mixed martial artists with their wrestling. Ultimate Fighting Championship
At the Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale, where Ferguson faced Ramsey Nijem to become the competition’s champion, he made his official UFC debut. Ferguson won a UFC deal by knocking out Nijem in the opening round. Additionally, he was awarded the Knockout of the Night bonus.
Ferguson returned to the lightweight division after his debut, taking on Aaron Riley at UFC 135 on September 24, 2011. Riley claimed to have a fractured jaw, which led to the bout being stopped after the first round, giving Ferguson the victory through TKO.
Ferguson then competed in the Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale against MMA veteran Yves Edwards. Ferguson won in a unified vote (30–27, 30–27, and 29–28).
On May 5, 2012, at UFC on Fox: Diaz vs. Miller, Ferguson was supposed to square off against Dennis Hallman. Hallman was replaced by Thiago Tavares after leaving the fight due to injury. Then, Tavares had to leave the fight due to an injury, and Michael Johnson took his place. By a unanimous decision, Ferguson was defeated.
After taking more than a year off from fighting to recover from an arm injury sustained in his previous bout, Ferguson made his comeback to take on Mike Rio at UFC 166 on October 19, 2013. In the opening round, he was submitted by a D’Arce choke. He received his first Submission of the Night honor as well as the victory.

At UFC 181, Ferguson and Abel Trujillo squared off on December 6, 2014. Ferguson submitted his opponent to win the match in round two.
At UFC 184 on February 28, 2015, Yancy Medeiros and Ferguson were scheduled to square off. Gleison Tibau was brought in to replace Medeiros after he withdrew from the fight due to an injury. Ferguson obtained a Performance of the Night bonus after winning the bout via submission in the first round.
On July 15, 2015, Ferguson and Josh Thomson squared off at UFC Fight Night 71.
Through a unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, and 30-26), he triumphed in the match and received his second consecutive Performance of the Night bonus.
