Review Of Vampire Academy (Ep 1-2): Sisi Stringer-Daniela Nieves Starrer Has Too Much Going On
The first four episodes of Peacock’s Vampire Academy have already aired. The show is off to a good start, but it seems like too much is going on in the first few episodes. The TV show 2022 is based on Richelle Mead’s best-selling books with the same name. The series, which was made by Julie Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre, will be the second time the book series has been turned into a movie. The first time was in 2014, when Zoey Deutch and Lucy Fry starred in a movie with the same name that didn’t do well at the box office.
Sisi Stringer plays Rose Hathaway in Vampire Academy. Daniela Nieves plays Lissa Dragomir, Kieron Moore plays Dimitri Belikov, and André Dae Kim plays Christian Ozera. J. August Richards is playing Victor Dashkov, Anita-Joy Uwajeh is playing Tatiana Vogel, Mia McKenna-Bruce is playing Mia Karp, Rhian Blundell is playing Meredith, Jonetta Kaiser is playing Sonya Karp, and Andrew Liner is playing Mason Ashford. The first four episodes of the show each last between 40 and 50 minutes.

Vampire Academy (Ep 1-2) Review
Will this remake of Vampire Academy make it to 2022?
When the first book in the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead came out, it was a crazy thing. The series of books was new, interesting, and fun to read. When I was a teenager, it was just the thing I needed to escape into a story. The movie adaptation didn’t turn out so well, and that’s why this much-anticipated series has to carry its own weight. But after the first episode, it looks like it might just make it through this time.
In the first episode of Vampire Academy, we meet Rose, a Dhampir who is learning to be a guardian, and Lissa Dragomir, a Moroi who is best friends with Rose and comes from a royal family. At the beginning of the show’s credits, there is a short description of the world we are about to enter. Dhampirs are the offspring of a vampire and a mortal human. Morois are the good vampires who kill to stay alive and are experts in elemental magic, which includes fire, water, air, and earth. The Strigoi are the bad vampires who kill, and Dhampir guardians are usually called in to protect the Moroi from the Strigoi.
Now that we know this, we can see that Rose and Lissa’s friendship begins a little differently than in the books and movies. We see how close the two of them are, which is unusual in their world, and how a tragedy puts them in situations that are hard and dangerous.
Vampire Academy Still from Vampire Academy
Vampire Academy has a new way of telling the story, but the plot stays the same. However, some characters, their goals, and their backstories change. The show is a pleasant surprise for people who haven’t read the books, but some of the plots are too complicated for people who have. Sonya Karp, Victor Dashkov and his family, and Tatiana Vogel showing up in the first episodes are all too much. Some of the subplots seem to have been changed, and others seem to have been taken from all of Mead’s six books.
Sisi Stringer, Daniela Nieves, André Dae Kim, Jonetta Kaiser, and Mia McKenna-Bruce all give performances that are very promising. But Kieron Moore is too different from Dimitri Belikov for him to play the role. The 2014 movie version of Dimitri, played by Danila Kozlovsky, felt more like Dimitri from the books than Moore’s strict but slippery version. Victor Dashkov, played by J. August Richards, is still hard to trust, but the show is trying too hard to make us like him. But, should we?
Final Thoughts on Vampire Academy (Ep. 1–4)
Overall, the first episode of Vampire Academy was good, but it tried to do too much and now it seems like it will soon fall apart. As a reader, I really don’t like the changes from the books, no matter how well they work for the show. Some things should really be left alone. But the show could get better as time goes on. Let’s just hope that the fast pace, YA flair, and political questions will keep us interested.
On Peacock TV, you can now watch the first four episodes of Vampire Academy.

Production
Development
An option to make a movie based on Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy books was purchased by Preger Entertainment in 2010. Based on the first book in the series, the film had a theatrical release in the United States in February 2014 but failed to do well at the box office. Preger Entertainment has launched an Indiegogo campaign in an effort to generate funds for the production of a sequel based on the second book, Frostbite, in response to the negative reviews the movie received. The project was subsequently abandoned because its goal was not met and the endeavor was ultimately unsuccessful.
In March 2015, Julie Plec expressed interest in turning the books into a television series via her Twitter account. In May 2021, Peacock acquired Vampire Academy straight-to-series as part of Plec’s overall agreement with Universal Television. The show was created by Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre, and Plec is also anticipated to act as one of the executive producers alongside Emily Cummins and Jillian DeFrehn. Don Murphy, Susan Montford, and Deepak Nayar, who are now executive producers of the series, produced the movie that was released in 2014.
Casting
The characters of Rose Hathaway, Lissa Dragomir, Kieron Moore, Dimitri Belikov, and Christian Ozera would be played by Sisi Stringer, Daniela Nieves, André Dae Kim, and Daniela Nieves, respectively.
