In his murderous spree between 1978 and 1991, American serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer killed 17 men. Over the course of more than 13 years, Dahmer sought out men, usually of African American descent, at gay bars, shopping centers, and bus stops. He then lured them home with promises of money or sex, gave them wine that was drugged, and strangled them to death. The corpses would then be used as objects for sex activities before being dismembered and disposed of, frequently with the skulls or genitalia being kept as mementos. To help him remember and relive each act of murder, he routinely took pictures of his victims during various phases of the killing process.

In 1991, authorities found Dahmer, who was given 16 life sentences. In 1994, Christopher Scarver, a fellow prisoner, killed him.

In his Netflix documentary “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer reveals how he was drawn to most of his victims and killed them because he wanted to have total power over them. Additionally, according to accounts, he raped many of his victims. At the start of his crime spree, he was also found guilty and given a term for second-degree sexual assault and tempting a kid with immoral intent. The question of whether Jeffrey Dahmer ever had a partner has arisen in the wake of the murders. The status of his employment, on the other hand, has also been a subject of debate. So, if you want to know if Jeffrey had a job or a boyfriend, we can tell you.

Jeffrey Dahmer: Boyfriend?

Surprisingly, none of the stories refer to Jeffrey Dahmer having a boyfriend, and we think he was never a committed relationship. The only person Jeffery ever expressed compassion for, according to reports, was his grandmother, which further suggests that he never engaged in romantic relationships. When Jeffrey learned he preferred boys to girls, he was still a senior in high school. Even though he struggled with his sexual identity, this kind of emotion was relatively new to him, and it was attraction and the desire to keep everyone close that drove him to murder.

On June 18, 1978, Jeffrey first encountered Steven Mark Hicks, his first victim, who was standing bare-chested on the side of the road. Jeffrey immediately felt attracted to the youth. Jeffrey was initially drawn to Steven, but as soon as he started talking about other girls, his fascination quickly changed to hatred since he realized he would never be accepted. Nevertheless, he maintained his composure until Steven wanted to leave. When Steven was refused permission to go, Jeffrey struck the victim twice in the head with dumbbells before strangling him to death.

In the years that followed, Jeffrey also ran into legal issues for sexual assault and indecent exposure due to his inability to control his desires. Additionally, the serial murderer allegedly frequented bathhouses where he allegedly drugged guests before raping them, according to the 2012 documentary “The Jeffrey Dahmer Files.” Intriguingly, the Netflix series depicts how Tony Anthony Hughes, one of Jeffrey’s victims, and Jeffrey began a burgeoning romance before Hughes was eventually murdered. However, there is no mention of such a relationship in the official papers, and based on appearances, Jeffrey lived a largely solitary life.

Did Jeffrey Dahmer Have a Job?

Yes, after graduating from high school, Jeffrey worked for the majority of his life while having the time to perpetuate a series of horrific murders on a regular basis. After committing his first murder, Jeffrey enrolled at Ohio State University’s College of Business in August 1978 to pursue a major in that field. But due to heavy drinking and a lack of motivation, he left school after only a few months. January 1979 came after that. Jeffrey enlisted in the military at his father’s insistence and was even stationed in Baumholder, West Germany, where he worked as a combat medic. The army still granted Jeffrey an honorable discharge in March 1981 after determining that his drinking problem had made him unfit for duty.

When Jeffrey chose to leave the army, he made plans to go to Miami, Florida, where he briefly worked at a sandwich business. He finally went back to his parent’s house, though, and was sent to live with his grandmother in West Allis, Wisconsin, by his father and stepmother. Intriguingly, Jeffrey had a strong interest in hunting for a career while residing with his grandmother and was hired as a phlebotomist by the Milwaukee Blood Plasma Center in early 1982. He was only able to keep that work for 10 months, and after being let go, he made the decision to stay jobless for the following few years. Nevertheless, at his grandmother’s urging, Jeffrey resumed his job search and began working as a mixer at the Milwaukee Ambrosia Chocolate Factory in January 1985. Up to the day of his arrest by the police in July 1991, Jeffrey worked at this position for the remainder of his spare time.

Family and Childhood of Jeffrey Dahmer

On May 21, 1960, Lionel and Joyce Dahmer welcomed Dahmer into the world in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Up to the age of 4, when surgery to treat a double hernia appeared to have an effect, the youngster was regarded as a lively and cheerful child. The birth of his younger brother and the family’s many movements made him more somber and more reclusive. He was disinterested, tense, and largely friendless by the time he was in his early teens.

Dahmer asserts that his urges toward necrophilia and murder started when he was about 14 years old, but it appears that the dissolution of his parents’ marriage and their contentious divorce a few years later may have been the impetus for converting these impulses into deeds.

Dahmer had become out of hand with his drinking by the time of his first murder. After one quarter of study at Ohio State University, he left, and his freshly remarried father suggested that he enlist in the Army. Dahmer joined the military in late December 1978, and shortly after, he was assigned to Germany.

Early in 1981, the Army released him due to his continued drinking issues. It isn’t thought that Dahmer killed any more people while he was a member of the military, despite the fact that German officials would subsequently look into probable connections between Dahmer and killings that occurred nearby at the time.

Dahmer went back to his Ohio home after being released. Dahmer’s father sent him to live with his grandmother in Wisconsin after he was detained later that year for disorderly behavior, but his drinking problem persisted and he was detained again the following summer for indecent exposure. Two boys accused him of masturbating in front of them in 1986, leading to his second arrest. A year of probationary time was given to him.
