One of the Hamilton County Juvenile Court judges in Ohio, Judge Tracie Hunter, became embroiled in a 6-year court dispute involving allegations of document backdating.
Her legal battle with the supreme court and the prosecution came to an end in 2019, despite her plea of not guilty, when she was nonetheless given a six-year prison sentence in late June.

How did Judge Tracie Hunter fare?
Judge Tracie Hunter was accused of backdating the records by the prosecutors, which led to a legal dispute with the Ohio Supreme Court. Accusations of rejecting appeals in 2013 were made against Hunter by the Hamilton County public defender’s office.
The case went on until 2019, and the judge was suspended as soon as the accusations surfaced for giving her brother access to sensitive information and postponing decisions on prisoners’ appeals.
Tracie vehemently denied all of the allegations, but the judges and the jurors took the case extremely seriously given the seriousness of the circumstances. A change in the ruling judge was requested by the old judge due to his prior participation in a collision with a woman.
All of them were turned down, and the court appointed a new lawyer for her. She finally concluded her court struggle after six arduous years, which the former judge still maintains was nothing more than a racist slur against her.
The case and verdict from the Ohio judge’s courtroom
Judge Tracie Hunter of the Hamilton County Juvenile Court in Ohio had one of the longest court cases with an even more stunning judgment that took six years.
Judge Tracie Hunter accused the public defender’s office of several felonies in front of a grand jury as she opened her case against them. The judge was accused of blocking appeals, postponing them, and disclosing private information in the case.
All other accusations were dismissed by the prosecution, but she was given a six-month jail term for disclosing private information. The judge still gave her permission to avoid jail time while she launched an appeal.
Her attorney filed a federal habeas corpus petition in 2016 claiming that the prosecutor’s and judge’s misconduct led to an unfair trial.
Despite the allegation and assertions of strong evidence against the judge, she received a six-month jail sentence and more than $30000 in court expenses.
First African-American judge of a juvenile court is Tracie Hunter.
According to Tracie Hunter’s Twitter bio, she is the first African American Juvenile Court judge, and she is very proud of this fact.
Hunter was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, and obtained her undergraduate degree from Miami University in 1988 before continuing her legal education at the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1992.
Prior to founding her legal company in 1994, the former Ohio judge worked as a pastor and a contract attorney at the public defender’s office. During her time at the law company, Hunter worked on issues involving civil rights, personal injury, and real estate.
She had held positions at prestigious law companies including Bayless & Chelsey before opening her own practice. Waite and Schneider.
Today, where is Tracie Hunter?
After being convicted in late June 2019, Tracie Hunter was freed in October of that same year and has since been a vocal supporter of feminism and African Americans on social media.
The former judge still actively speaks out about how the GOP wronged her and removed her as a judge; she is a senior pastor at the Western Hills Brethren in Christ Church.
These days, Hunter seems to be tweeting both her political opinions and a celebration of black women’s victories and accomplishments.
