Different places in Winnipeg, Canada, were used to film Hanukkah on Rye. The movie written by Julie Sherman Wolfe will come out on December 18.
The story is about Molly and Jacob, a new couple, and how they try to keep their love alive. During Hanukkah, a matchmaker brings them together. But their relationship is put to the test when they find out they are in competition with each other.
People like Yael Grobglas, Jeremy Jordan, and Lisa Loeb are in the movie. Also, the premise is geared toward Jews, who may feel left out by all the Christmas movies.

Locations Where Hallmark Shot “Hanukkah on Rye”
The Hallmark movie Hanukkah on Rye was filmed in Winnipeg, Canada, according to kveller. The largest city in the province of Manitoba is Winnipeg.
In the movie, the News Cafe is changed into Gilbert’s Deli, a made-up place in New York City. Most of what happened happened there.
The city newspaper said that Lea Thompson, who was in Back to the Future, talked about the beautiful scenery while on set for The Spencer Sisters.
In the meantime, the tourism board saw some famous places. The outdoor movie scene was shot in Old Market Square, and the indoor scenes were done in buildings in the Exchange District.
Even though the snow on the sidewalks is fake, the passion of the two main actors is real, because they are from the same town they are acting in.
During their interview with Location, they said that they loved Christmas, but there aren’t enough movies about Jerusalem’s recovery. The production team put more effort into styling the food because they wanted the onslaught of delicious Latkes to make the audience drool.
Assiniboine Park, FortWhyte Alive, The Exchange District–good Gracious, and The Granite Curling Club, with its famous fireplace and Tudor interior, are among the top 10 places to visit in Winnipeg that are shown in the movie.
There will be a lot of lox and latkes competition, and Lisa Loeb will co-star and perform in it. In the movie, Jacob is played by Broadway actor Jeremy Jordan and Molly is played by Israeli actress Yael Grobglas.

Hanukkah on Rye
What happened in the Hallmark movie Hanukkah on Rye
The movie is all about Hanukkah, family, love, romance, and traditional foods. Hanukkah on Rye is a complete story about a new romance with a twist from the past.
The Jewish delis owned by the families of Jacob/Jake Leven (Jeremy Jordan) and Molly Gilbert (Yael Grobglas) are some of the best in the world. But they are both owners of delis. On the same block as Molly’s, Jason opens a new deli. So the couple’s problems get worse.
Both Jacob’s and Molly’s grandmothers sign them up for an old-fashioned matchmaking service in Brooklyn that involves writing letters, not e-mails or texts! Jacob and Molly find The One in a city with 18 million people.
Jacob and Molly really get to know each other even though they don’t know they are writing to each other. A romantic relationship starts because of a Hanukkah matchmaking event.

Hanukkah Hallmark Movie About Jewish Delights
Oh, my cute little Maccabee! “Hanukkah on Rye,” a new Hallmark Hanukkah movie, will come out in December, and wait until you hear all about it. Seriously, you Jews should get ready to be shaken to the core.
First of all, yes, this movie is about a Jewish deli. In fact, it’s about more than one Jewish deli. Some would say that we’ve been waiting a long time for this, since “Crossing Delancey” days. And yes, just like “Crossing Delancey,” this movie will have a meddling aunt and a matchmaker (though no one will ever match the greatness that was Sylvia Miles). It will also be all about how tradition and modernity pull and push each other.

Hanukkah on Rye
In the movie, Jacob Leven and Molly Gilbert are both from families that own “world-class delis.” They are all trying to make their own way and bring their family businesses into the 21st century so they can be successful in 2022. The two meet when Jacob goes to New York City to look for a new place for his deli. There’s chemistry between them, but they’re both too busy being Jewish food experts (running a Jewish deli is no joke!) to pursue a relationship.
Molly and Jacob’s Jewish grandmothers are worried that their grandchildren don’t have anyone to date, so they both sign them up for an old-fashioned matchmaking service that involves writing letters (not emails, real letters!). Even though they don’t know they’re writing to each other, they become close through these letters. In real life, Jacob’s plan to open a deli on the same block as Molly’s makes things worse between the two. Gasp!
Will a Hanukkah miracle keep them together, as the movie’s tagline asks? (Spoiler: it will, because it’s a Hallmark movie.)
This premise gives me strong Joan Micklin Silver and Nora Ephron vibes (“You’ve Got Mail,” anyone? ), all wrapped up in a schmaltzy Hallmark package (hey, schmaltz is great in a Jewish deli!).
Do I wish the movie about the Jewish deli was a high-quality rom-com? Maybe. But maybe this is just the start of a new era of Jewish deli romcoms—Billy Eichner and Judd Apatow, take note.
Let’s talk about this cast, all right? Molly will be played by Yael Grobglas, who is best known as Petra from “Jane the Virgin.” I love everything Yael does. Recently, she had to learn Yiddish and Polish to play a role in the great Amazon Prime show “Undone.” I’d watch just about anything for her, and this is no different.
