Dejoune Killingbeck Arrested: Video shows Florida man getting arrested for child neglect after toddlers found wandering at Walmart parking lot

Dejoune Killingbeck, 35, was taken into custody by the Florida police and charged with child neglect after two toddlers who were only wearing diapers were found wandering around the parking lot of a Florida Walmart under his watch on September 15, while he was unconscious inside his car. The incident occurred while Killingbeck was shopping at the Florida Walmart.

The event was captured on body camera footage that was later uploaded to the internet. In the video, Florida law enforcement officers can be seen attempting to rouse Killingbeck, the father of the two children, who appears to be a little bit confused as they try to interview him. According to reports, Killingbeck was entrusted with the care of his children while their mother shopped at Walmart.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday evening, concerned witnesses noticed two children running across the parking lot of a Walmart store in Florida while it was raining. The children were only wearing part of their clothing. The store’s patrons were thereafter the ones to bring the infants and toddlers inside. According to reports, the children did not sustain any injuries.

According to a report from a regional news website called Click Orlando, while Killingbeck was dozing off behind the wheel of the vehicle, the personnel at Walmart dressed the youngsters and cared after them until the police arrived at the scene.

The following statement was released by the Sheriff’s Office of Volusia County in response to the incident:

“When the deputies arrived, they discovered that Dejoune Killingbeck (DOB 4/23/1987) was unconscious while sitting behind the wheel of a moving automobile. While the children’s mother was out shopping, he was tasked with looking after them. Apparently, as the children were running about the parking lot of the Florida Walmart, they came dangerously close to being struck by a vehicle.

The bodycam footage shows witnesses pointing law enforcement officers in the direction of Killingbeck’s vehicle. After that, it is possible to hear them stating that they attempted to check on Killingbeck, but he remained in an unconscious state throughout their efforts. A witness can be heard telling the officer in charge, “I attempted to check on him, but he’s drooling out of his mouth,” as she describes the victim’s condition.

After jolting him back to consciousness, the police ask Killingbeck to exit the van so that they can question him, and then they continue their interrogation. When questioned about the whereabouts of his children, Killingbeck, however, gives the impression of being befuddled by the subject. It was then stated that he explained to the authorities that he was responsible for watching the children while their mother shopped at Walmart.

According to Click Orlando, as Killingbeck was being carried into a patrol vehicle, he attempted to throw away a chopped straw. This took place when Killingbeck was being escorted. The straw was reportedly recovered by the police, and a field test uncovered evidence of the presence of oxycodone and fentanyl.

“Killingbeck appeared to be confused at first and was unaware of what was going on around him. An examination of a chopped straw that was found in his pocket yielded a test result that was presumed to be positive for the presence of oxycodone and fentanyl. According to a statement issued by the police.

Killingbeck was reportedly charged with “two charges of child neglect, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, and driving with a suspended license.” This information was provided by the authorities.

The children were reportedly reunited with their mother, and child care providers were made aware of the situation as well, according to the authorities. According to reports from Click Orlando, the mother said that she was unaware that Killingbeck was under the influence of drugs when she asked him to babysit her children, who at the time were supposedly sleeping in the vehicle.

Killingbeck has a bond set at $16,000 and is now being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
