Babli Bouncer Movie Review Contains Some Spoilers

We are introduced to Babli, a resident of a small town located on the outskirts of Delhi, in Madhur Bhandarkar’s novel Babli Bouncer. The account is told by Vijay Raaz, who explains that the males of this village are often muscle-bound individuals who find employment as bouncers in the nightclubs of Delhi. We meet Babli, the only woman in the hamlet who is a bodybuilder, and we watch as she works toward her goal of becoming a bouncer.

On paper, the idea of a young woman from a rural area working as a doorwoman in a nightclub in Delhi sounds like an extremely empowering one. On the other hand, the love story that was depicted on TV turned out to be contrived and emotionless. The most important factor in Babli’s decision to become a bouncer was a man. Yes, when we first meet her, she is a lady who has no professional goals other than to get married and start a family.

When Babli falls in love with Viraj, the son of her teacher, she develops an ambitious streak (Abhishek Bajaj). As Viraj stays in Delhi, Babli decides to work in Delhi. She finds herself in a position of fortune when she is hired to work as a female bouncer in a bar in Delhi. It is not Babli’s ambition that propels the plot forward; rather, it is her yearning for a romantic relationship. It just doesn’t make sense.

Babli doesn’t take her profession very seriously at all. The challenges that a female bouncer has in a field that is traditionally dominated by men are never brought up in the narrative. In most underdog stories, the protagonist faces significant obstacles that put them to the test. In the tale told by Bhandarkar, Babli faces her greatest obstacle in the form of the young man she believes to be her true love.

The score for Babli is also a fail. Babli makes the decision to alter her behavior for the “better” after things do not go according to her plan. It is absurd that a lady who appears to be so powerful, clever, and ferocious should be so influenced by a boy whom she hardly knows that she would decide to change herself because of him. We don’t get the impression that Babli is particularly enthusiastic about her job as a bouncer. It concerned me, especially considering that the title of the movie included the word “bouncer.” Even though there is a scene in which she helps someone, this was only done so that the story could have a happy conclusion.

In spite of the fact that the movie has significant flaws, there are certain scenes that will make you laugh out loud or give you warm fuzzies. The loving relationship that Babli shares with her father, portrayed by Saurabh Shukla, warms the viewer’s heart. Tamannaah deserves credit for playing such an offbeat character, since Babli is very entertaining thanks to her performance. In the beginning, I had a lot of trouble understanding the accent, but as time went on, I was able to get more and more used to it.

There are a few humorous sequences that Bhatia is in, and she gives a superb performance in each of them. Her personality was known for being hilarious, notorious, and vivid. However, the makers ruined its charm by repeatedly reminding us that she is humorous, burps loudly, and eats a lot. This completely undermined the character.

The stunning natural scenery of the village is well captured by Himman Dhamija’s camera, which causes us to get transfixed. The club moments are also recorded really well, which gives us an impression of how incredibly colorful life can be in Delhi. Madhur has utilized a number of songs from Bollywood, including “Ek Main Aur Ek Tu,” “Marjawa,” and others. Sadly, the score of the film does not evoke any strong emotional responses from the audience.

Babli Bouncer Review: Final Thoughts

The Tamannaah Bhatia vehicle, which Madhur Bhandarkar directed, does, in general, have its standout moments. However, there is nothing novel about the plot. We have seen better stories about underdogs in which the heart and passion were directed in the proper direction, such as Gully Boy, Iqbal, and Lagaan, amongst others. The director of fashion made numerous attempts to make us laugh, and he was occasionally successful. However, if the main heroine is motivated to achieve her objectives for the sake of or because of a male protagonist, then the narrative does not elevate or empower women.
